THROWBACK | I NEED A SELF-CHECK

“Sometimes I can be my worse critic, pointing out my imperfections, keeping myself bound by the lessons of my past, re-living the hurtful thoughts of my memories, being unforgiving to myself for making the wrong decisions, to others who have hurt me, or simply just not meeting the expectations I have set for myself. It can seem impossible to face the reality of my own truths, staring my situations face to face, and tackling them one by one. The only person that hurts in my world of regret is me; I’ve got to take hold of my current state of thinking I’m losing control…..”

~Deliver Me from Me, By LaToya Early

We’re always looking for someone else to blame, it’s never our own fault! We’re always pointing fingers at why WE aren’t who we want to be. We never take a look at what WE did wrong, it’s always what someone else didn’t do for us. It’s time for a self-check! We question why we haven’t reached our goals or why we seem so stagnant in our current situations and we look for others to blame for our own complacencies, but sometimes you could be the reason you’re being held back.  There are so many reasons you could not be where you want to be in life, when was the last time you set down and “Faced the reality of your own truths”? – Self-Check!

  1. Laziness/Procrastination– These two walk hand and hand. Some might say “I’m not lazy, but I do procrastinate a lot” well lets define Laziness: desiring to want more with the inability to accomplish tasks due to lack of discipline, Procrastination: desiring to want more, but due to lack of discipline you display the inability to accomplish tasks. Sounds similar? Don’t justify your procrastination, the longer you wait, the longer you won’t be! Now, whose fault is that? – Self-Check!

“4 Lazy People want much but get little,

but those who work hard will prosper.”

Proverbs 13:4 NLT

  1. Lack of Confidence- If you read the above passage again, you will see that we are our worse critics; we point out our imperfections and place limitations on ourselves. Know you are your biggest supporter. What gift God has given to you NO man can take away. Be confident in yourself; know that you were created on purpose with a purpose. No one can stop you from being great but you! – Self-Check!

“10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged,

for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.

I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10 NLT

  1. Unforgiveness– As long as you hold that grudge, the longer you will lack. You must forgive those who have done wrong against you, don’t be bitter be better! Use what they did to help you not hinder you. Prove them wrong! Who do you need to forgive? – Self Check!

“14 If you forgive those who sin against you,

your heavenly Father will forgive you.

15 But if you refuse to forgive others,

your Father will not forgive your sins.”

Matthew 6:14-15 NLT

  1. Waiting on the next person– Don’t sit and wait for someone else to do something for you to do what you know you need to do. It’s no one else;s responsibility to make you great, but you. Yes, we all need to be a team, but don’t wait for the team to come ask you play, get up and go join the team.

“33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else,

and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.

Matthew 6:33 NLT

You must use each obstacle and struggle as an advantage, don’t allow your experiences to hinder you from your blessings. Pray about it, forgive those who have hurt you, forgive yourself, love others and strive daily to be the best you can be! I know it can be difficult, but you can do it. When you start to feel defeated, – Self Check!

God made you with a purpose, fulfill your purpose and allow Him to maximize Himself in you. You are amazing!
