The Pursuit Of Passion

Letting go often leaves you with nothing.

Letting Go to Find Your Passion

Girlfriends’ Lynn, in some ways, is the opposite of Maya. She had a hard time knowing who she was and what she wanted. Here she was with a million degrees, going through life enjoying the accomplishments of her circle. While education is important, it’s more important what you do with it. Remember, knowledge is power.

Sure some will think Lynn was stuck because she was adopted and therefore didn’t know who she was because she didn’t know where she came from. Well, what about after she met her birth mother (in season 3)??? She still didn’t know who she was or have a true direction for her life. Let’s not forget that by the time she met her birth father, she was sure she was supposed to do documentaries like her birth mother. Only to accidentally stumble upon her passion for music, trying to help her brother.

Let’s not act like y’all don’t remember the travesty that was “You like whip cream toppings for your banana split split split. I got cherry toppings for your banana split split split?”!

With the new year here, it’s time to ensure your current walk aligns with your purpose and passion.

Gestalt Theory

Lynn appears to be one that would benefit from Gestalt Therapy. This therapy aims to shift blame from past circumstances and experiences and emphasizes the present.

For Lynn, this would look like understanding she may have felt lost as a child, but she is an adult now and it’s time she takes care of herself. Because this therapy is about self-awareness and eliminating one’s own roadblocks, it would be ideal for Lynn, the free spirit, who goes in whatever direction the wind blows. The technique for this therapy is no technique, no forced work, just allowing a space for people to be aware of who they are in the present.

If you’re interested in this type of therapy or need some inspirational encouragement, please send me an email.
