How did you get started in your industry?

Kiana Muse of Kiana Muse Art

Making jewelry was just something I did for fun as a child. It wasn’t until maybe 3-4 years ago I decided it could be a business. I spent lots of time on YouTube doing research, following other jewelry artists, and eventually got a job at a jewelry studio to learn more about the industry.

Growing up, did you imagine being an entrepreneur?

Yes! I made so many arts and crafts as a child. I also used to bake cookies and cakes. My mom always encouraged me to sell my crafts and baked goods.

In the beginning stages of developing your brand/business, what was your biggest struggle and how did you overcome it?

My biggest struggle was doing it! I felt like I needed to have certain things done to launch the website, etc. I still feel like that sometimes, but I’ve learned just to put myself out there and polish stuff up as I go.

Do you feel like you are pursuing purpose? If so, how did you know this was your purpose?

If so, how did you know this was your purpose? Not yet. I have goals and a purpose that I am working towards, but I’m not there yet.

What’s the best part of Kiana Muse Art? What keeps you motivated to keep going?

Having an additional source of income while doing something I love and do for fun is the best part. What keeps me motivated is the possibility that I’ll have this thriving business as my only job, working for myself one day.

As an entrepreneur myself, I understand sometimes personal life can get in the way of business. Have you encountered any personal hurdles that could have or did result in a business pivot?

I honestly don’t have much of a personal life; I have two other jobs that require a lot of my attention. So having more time for a social/personal life is a goal of mine.

During these times, we’ve all had to adjust. How has the adjustment been for you and your brand?

Adjusting to going back to work was hard. I loved lockdown! I was furloughed from my full-time job, which allowed me to focus on my business.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman starting her career?

Don’t do something because you have to, but because you want to.

Lastly, what keeps you struttin?

My belief is that all this hard work will pay off one day!
