Personal Reflection: Is It Worth the Fight?
The December 19 episode of Insecure lends to the thought, “Is it worth the fight?” Know that is a question that only you can answer. No matter how much you talk to your friends or your therapist about a situation. Only you know if it’s worth the energy and peace or if you should just walk away. Your body’s natural response to a feat invoking situation is fight or flight. Literally, those are your only two options. I haven’t seen any nervous system response that dictates “shelter in place in total confusion.”
Nathan definitely looked a little dusty amongst the circle of guys, HOWEVER, his ability to throw lowkey shade definitely met the standard.
LISTEN! All my friends stay ready to handle whatever smoke may appear. We will not be embarrassed and all come fine as hell, so you know what you missed when you chose not to stay and fight.
Molly’s Growth
Sooo was no one else just a little grossed out by them making the sex in the pantry where they keep food??? I will say I appreciated Molly being brave enough (even with medicinal assistance) to be vulnerable and let Taurean in. We have seen her pretend to do this in previous seasons, but there was a part of her that was afraid to completely let go of control and therefore remained guarded. Taurean’s “I don’t care” responses to Molly’s high outburst are exactly what she has been missing. Someone who cares about her without judging her past and/or present.
Relationship Interactions
I hope Lawrence knows he can’t just sneak up on people in the dark. That’s a good way to catch a knee to the nuts. Issa really did try to get away from having that uncomfortable conversation with Lawrence with the “I can’t do this with you right now.” I’m glad Nathan walked up when he did, shit just comes too easy for Lawrence. Shoutout to Chad for his amazing insight and simultaneous ability to check his boy. Plus, we all know Nathan would have BEAT HIS ASS. Remember when girls thought it was cute to have guys fight over them? Yeah, me neither. NEVER, I repeat NEVER tell someone to chill, calm down, or anything of that nature to a person that is obviously not chill and/or calm.
Also, a point of consideration. What if Lawrence and Issa were as awkward as Nathan and Issa currently appear to be? We don’t have much information about how their interactions were before living together. I see a lot about Team Lawrence vs. Team Nathan due to the connections we currently see. Nathan has been a great support to Issa and Issa the same for him. I’m not sure how supportive either Issa or Lawrence have been to each other.
