Top of the year is all the rage when it comes to what’s new and trending in makeup. Eyeshadow is the one thing most beginners can’t wait to “master” — ask me how do I know?
I was THAT GIRL, too, as I still search for tips and tricks to elevate my eyeshadow looks.
I’ve done the research and rummaged the hashtags, so you can tackle the upcoming 2022 eyeshadow trends without being overwhelmed or breaking the bank! Try these three simple methods to make your everyday eyeshadow look better:
Everyday Eyeshadow Looks
K.I.S.S. – Keep It Simple, Sweetie
Don’t overcomplicate the basics. Trends come and go, but classic eyeshadow techniques are evergreen. I like to have one or two go-to eyeshadow looks that work for any occasion and require minimal application time.
Proper Tools
Proper Tools are best. Did you know your hands are your best makeup tool? I learned how to apply shimmer eyeshadow using my finger, and that “tool” still serves me well. Now, to elevate your techniques, I recommend at least one flat shadow brush and one tapered blending brush.
Use Colored Eyeliner
This is a major 2022 trend and a major key to elevating any everyday eyeshadow look. Use a kohl pencil to line your lower waterline with a color opposite the color wheel of your natural eye color.
I’ll keep it brief
- Blue eyes look great with warmer hues. Think peachy, burnt orange, bronze colors.
- Green/Hazel eyes look great with shades of violet, pink, and burgundy.
- Brown eyes look great with greens and purples, even golds and bronzes complement this eye color, too.
I’m not usually one to place restrictions on color based on color, but if you can master the color wheel, you will never have issues with creating eye-catching looks.
Practice is the secret sauce to elevating your everyday eyeshadow looks, so make time to play in your makeup. That’s the only way you will find what works for you to create a routine that you know and love. To get you started, here’s a quick Instagram reel of a quick and easy eyeshadow look.
