Meet Micah Pegues
How did you get started in your industry?
Fashion has been a part of my life since I was a little girl. I watched my mother operate her boutique, select various trends per season, and educate young entrepreneurs in the fashion industry. I fell in love watching her design and create statement pieces, so I became her muse, assisted with photoshoots, and attended various fashion weeks. This inspired me to utilize my business degree and start my own fashion boutique. Fashion makes me feel confident and comfortable because there isn’t a right or wrong answer when it comes to it. It’s my way of expressing myself and stepping out of my shell. Let’s just say I picked up her torch and I’m running with it!
Growing up, did you imagine being an entrepreneur?
I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur, but I also dreamed of a career with a Fortune 500 company and in real estate. Growing up, I watched my mother operate her boutique store and become a designer, all while being a full-time engineer. Her routine was pretty simple but so powerful — an engineer by day, designer by night. She set the example by obtaining a lifestyle while pursuing your passion.
In the beginning stages of developing your brand/business, what was your biggest struggle and how did you overcome it?
Entrepreneurship is not easy, but the end goal is worth every bit. It takes a lot of sacrifice and discipline because it’s a job that never stops. At the beginning stages of my business, I’ve struggled with consistency and spending tons of money on things I can buckle down and learn myself. As my business entered its second year, I decided to fully invest in myself. I became the director of sales and marketing, financial advisor, accountant, photographer/videographer, social media manager, content creator, graphic designer, and just recently became a creative director. There are a plethora of hats worn in this role, so it’s important to take some time to learn all the necessary skills. There is no better feeling more rewarding than your hard work coming to fruition.
Do you feel like you are pursuing purpose? If so, how did you know this was your purpose?

Here in the Diary Of Mi’Couture, you will find fashion-forward apparel, versatile pieces, and a fresh and positive perspective on the latest trends of clothing for the bold and confident woman. We offer our flare of fashion and style to our customers by providing them with chic designs and styling tips. Our goal is to empower women through fashion to help them unlock their style while grabbing the attention of everyone embarked upon.
What does a normal day of running Diary Of Mi’Couture look like?
A normal day operating the Diary Of Mi’Couture looks a little like this:
- Mornings are usually for catching up on emails, reviewing the to-do list for the day, scheduling emails to send to the email list, packing orders, and checking to see if the social post(s) of the day are good to go.
- Midday, I am reviewing the store analytics and checking for areas that need improvement. I also use this time for inventory and overall monthly planning, website updates, and taking orders to the post office.
- Evenings are usually for creating social media graphics and content for Instagram and TikTok.
What is the best part of the business? What keeps you motivated to keep going?
In the Diary, you can be whatever you want to be and that’s what makes us so uniquely special. We strive to inspire women to explore the beauty of the world. This in turn will help build women’s confidence that’s effortless and to see the light in what they wish to be. We show up every day for our customers and living up to these expectations keeps us going.
What’s the difference between the woman (you) before starting the brand and the woman (you) right now?
A year and a half later into business, there is not much that has changed. I am the same woman with a drive for fashion and success. My boutique is serving its purpose of helping others thrive in their own sense of fashion. For that reason, I am very grateful to be flourishing into the woman God created me to be.
What are some tips for Business/Brand Owners to avoid feeling burnt out and take care of their mental health?
It’s natural as a business owner to eat, sleep, and breathe your business. However, it’s important to schedule free time to relax and regroup or do something you truly enjoy. We all have a million things to do, but prioritizing your time will keep you well-balanced and mentally stable.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
The key to starting your career is to set goals, stay focused, be consistent, and brand yourself.
Lastly, what keeps you strutting?
I am an influencer that’s passionate about fashion, beauty, and female entrepreneurship! I find inspiration in learning and experiencing new things and connecting with new people. Constantly reminding myself of my “why” and the thought of hard work paying off, definitely keeps me struttin’!
